Description

Bubblebear is a small passive vermin with a single blocky rectangular body that doubles as its head, simple black eyes and a small black mouth on the front, stubby legs, and a small green sprout growing from the top. Its skin uses a soft plush pixel texture. Four normal colour variants and one rare variant exist. It is one of the clearest mascot creatures in the game.

Bubblebear is the face of Lucid Blocks in a lot of official places: the Steam icon, the Discord server avatar, the executable, and the loading screen all use it. In play, its practical value is livestock.

Bubblebears have 8 health, move slowly, and do not fight back. When hit, they panic, run directly away for about 4 to 6 seconds, and then settle back into their idle loop. Ordinary bubblebears also purr while calm.

They appear across many daytime biomes. On death they always drop raw bubblebear flesh, with smaller chances for a bubble hat at 8% and plush at 4%. Burning the kill gives cooked bubble flesh instead.

The stronger reason to keep them alive is shedding. A living bubblebear periodically drops a bubblebear egg every 30 to 800 seconds, which makes penned bubblebears a reliable early source of spawners and fusion stock. Killing a fleeing one also triggers the Bubblebear Massacre achievement and can add hate.
